When I was in U.S, I have a problem to eat onions in burrito or other dished. There is no pretreatment in cooking onion in Western countries. They use raw onions without pretreatment. Therefore, onions stay long in my stomak and I did not feel well. Today, I am going to tell pretreatment for salad in order to easily digest in your stomak
Cut onions vertically
If you want to make salad with raw onins, it is important to cut onions vertically to the string like the photo. You have to make a thin piece. This make you easy to eat and digest. Then, soak them in water for a while, and squeeze. Some Japanese like me treat onions like this when we make salad. If we make Japanese curry, we do not cut like this. It does not matter, if you heat onions. But if you eat onins raw, this is important pretreatment when you cook onions.
